Bathroom and Toilet waterproofing is necessary because of the damage water can cause in your wet area. We are not talking about a simple leakage here, and we are also not talking about small damages that you would easily notice. We are talking about serious damages which could cost thousands of dirhams to repair if you don’t put some effort into it (which most people usually don’t) so do not wait until you notice the damage, because it can be very serious.

How to protect your bathrooms and toilets?

The best way to protect your bathroom and toilet from water is by installing a waterproof membrane coating on the surface.  If you are looking for a reliable company who could do that for you then please contact us at info@ssyedtech.ae, our team will contact you within 24 hours.

However, if you are looking for a cheaper solution and do not mind doing it yourself then we have the following instructions for you.  Please note that this is only a temporary solution until you decide to install the coatings professionally.

First of all, make sure your toilet or bathroom walls (whatever structure you want) are dry.

STEP 1

Make sure that there’s no leak coming out of your bathroom or toilet and then clean it from any dirt to make sure you have a smooth surface for applying the waterproof membrane coatings.

STEP 2

Take a bucket of water and mix it with three parts of thick waterproof paint and one part cement. If you do not have cement, you go for two parts of paint and one part of the powdered rock.

STEP 3

Apply your mixture on the walls evenly or as desired. Make sure it is thick enough to cover everything but thin enough to flow like water from a faucet tap.

STEP 4

Wait 24 hours and then do the second coat of waterproof.

STEP 5

Apply the final coat of waterproofing on your bathroom or toilet the next day and let it dry for two days before you can use it again.

STEP 6

The reason why the walls need to dry before you can use your bathroom/toilet again is that the cement takes a long time to set. It dries from underneath and not on top thus it might appear wet all over when in fact it’s just drying at the bottom.

This way, if water gets inside your bathroom or toilet it will not seep through the cement and cause problems in your bathroom or toilet.
As you can notice it is a very long and complicated process to waterproof your bathroom yourself. So, it is advised to hire a professional waterproofing company to do the job for you. It may cost a bit but is it worth the value?
