This job included waterproofing leaking underground tanks using GRP lining in combination with chemical crack injection treatment.
Findings
- The existing internal paint was not waterproof and was peeling off.
- Water leakage was contaminating the water supply, posing health risks.
- Full compliance with municipal and health authority regulations was required.
Risks
- Confined space conditions require safety protocols such as ventilation systems, oxygen level monitoring, and the use of oxygen masks.
- Chemical exposure necessitated full PPE for all workers.
Solution
- The team recommended removing all traces of the existing paint.
- The leaking walls underwent chemical injection treatment before GRP was applied.
- All internal surfaces, including walls, floors, and ceilings, were laminated with GRP.
- The job was finalized with a gel coat and a successful 3-day water test.
