This project involved applying GRP lamination over an existing tiled surface inside an underground water tank located in a residential building. The goal was to ensure the tank was fully sealed and met hygiene standards for long-term water storage.
Findings
- The internal surfaces of the tank were previously tiled, and the tiles were intact but not waterproof.
- To avoid removing the tiles, the client requested a bonded waterproof solution applied over them.
Solution
- The tiled surface was thoroughly cleaned and mechanically ground to create a rough texture for proper bonding.
- A 4mm thick GRP lining was applied in multiple layers across all walls, floors, and corners.
- The final gel coat layer was applied to provide a smooth, protective, and hygienic finish.
- The tank is now sealed and compliant for use in a residential water supply.
